 By means of Cataract Campaign started by IHH with the slogan of “If you see them, they will see the world”, cataract operations have been carried out in 4 countries. 390 people in Benin, 300 in Togo, 281 in Gana and 224 in Pakistan have taken surgeries. Thanks to the operations in the regions 1195 people have regained vision, 17.522 people have taken medical examination. After medical examinations, glasses and medicines are delivered to the patients.
A Turkish charity foundation IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation has been carrying out a very essential project in Africa. In various countries of Africa, IHH has started to organize cataract operations to give a chance to cataract blind people to regain vision. In terms of Cataract Campaign carried out by the support of Turkish people, some operations took place in 4 countries. Cataract operations in 4 countries The campaign started by the slogan of “If you see them, they will see the world” will last for 1 year. Up to the day, thousands of Turkish people has contributed to the project to give light to the cataract blind people. IHH has carried out operations in 4 countries. 1195 people in Benin, Gana, Togo and Pakistan have taken surgery. Giving light to the cataract blind people has created an atmosphere of happiness in those countries. 390 people has taken surgery in Benin Benin, the coastal country taking place south of West Africa, was the first route of cataract operations. In Kotono, the capital city of Benin, 390 people has regained vision thanks to the operations. After the operations carried out in Akpapa Hospital, people having difficulties in vision due to cataract has regained vision. In addition to the operations, 6000 people have been consulted by doctors in Benin. 2000 people have been delivered glasses and medicines. It drew attention that there were cataract blind people from different age groups varying from 7 to 90. 300 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN GIVEN LIGHT IN TOGO Thousands of people have taken surgery in Dapaong and Kara cities of Togo. Crowdeds has gathered during the medical screenings for eye diseases. In those medical screenings, 5500 people have been consulted by doctors. After the consultaions, 300 people have taken operations, 900 people have been given glasses and thousands given medicines. The campaign in Gana has been followed in Wa city. 5000 people has taken medical examination. After the examination, 281 people has taken operations, 1500 people were given glasses and hundreds of people has been treated by medicines. In addition to the African countries, operations are planned to take place in Asian countries too. In this sense, people having difficulties due to the cataract blindness have been supported in Pakistan especially in Kashmir region. 224 people have been taken surgery in this country and regained vision. 1022 people have taken medical examination. After the examination, the determined needy people have been given glasses. CRUCIAL PROJECTS CARRIED OUT THANKS TO THE SMALL DONATIONS In some countries such as Turkey, cataract operations costs a budget between 500 to 1000 New Turkish Liras (NTL). On the other hand, cataract operations would be carried out with small budgets in African countries since the costs are low and doctors contributes voluntarily to the project. In African countries, a cataract operation would cost only 100 NTLs. In other terms, by the donations of small financial contributions of 100 NTLs, cataract blind people are given a chance to see the world. That means that small quantities of financial donations leads the achievement of crucial social projects. |
